January 2019 – 30 Books On My TBR For This Month

The first month of 2019 is here and I’m so excited to get my reading glasses on (even though my near vision is perfectly clear) because we have a lot to read! As I recently mentioned on Twitter, I have set up a Goodreads Reading Challenge for 365 books and yes, yes, yes…I can hear you all screaming. Well, doing the calculations, if I read at least 30 books every month then I can hopefully achieve this goal of mine. And of course, a cheer from the lovely bookish friends as a fuel!

So here are 30 books I’m planning to read in January 2019!

BOOK CLUB PICKS

GIRLS OF PAPER AND FIRE BY NATASHA NGAN

I’ll be reading this YA fantasy with LGBT theme for the Stars & Sorcery Book Club. If you’re planning to read this and would love to do that with other enthusiastic readers, make sure to join the club; also, it’s run by the ever so lovely, Nandini from Unputdownable Books so that should be a legit selling point.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO BY STIEG LARRSON

I’ll be reading this widely acclaimed book, FINALLY, because it’s the book of the month for the Banned Book Club. If you’re planning to read this, you know what to do: just join this club that’s run by the lovely Shruti from ThisIsLitBlog.

HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE BY J.K. ROWLING

It’s gonna be my first ever Harry Potter re-read marathon! And that’s possible because the lovely Noura has recently set up a Goodreads group to re-read this epic series. The first month is all about reliving the amazing world through the first book in the series. If you wish to join, you know what to do!

OUT OF AFRICA BY ISAK DINESEN

Out of Africa is the Classic BOTM of our Classics ‘N’ Christie Book Club and I’m so looking forward to it. It’s run by *ahem* me and the amazing Simant from FlippingThruThePages. If you’re looking to read this and many more Classics throughout the year, don’t forget to join in!

THE MURDER ON THE LINKS BY AGATHA CHRISTIE

The Murder on the Links is the Christie BOTM of our Classics ‘N’ Christie Book Club and I’m so looking forward to it. It’s run by *ahem* me and the amazing Simant from FlippingThruThePages. If you’re looking to read this and many more Classics throughout the year, don’t forget to join in! YES, I JUST COPY-PASTED THE PREVIOUS PARAGRAPH.

ADVANCED READER COPIES

TO BEST THE BOYS BY MARY WEBER

I was so happy when I got approved for an eARC of To Best The Boys on Netgalley, and I’ll be reading it this month despite it being released in March 2019. really looking forward to this YA fantasy.

TINFOIL CROWNS BY ERIN JONES

This is another of the eARCs that I’m excited to read. It’s a YA contemporary and I’m hoping it’s going to tear me because that blurb definitely did. It’s going to be all about family issues and I’m all ready!

THE WICKED SAINTS BY EMILY A. DUNCAN

I can’t even tell you all how happy and excited I was when I got accepted for this because it seems so Gothic and gives a strong female vibe so I couldn’t wait till April when it’ll be released–glad I can read it this month itself!

HIDDEN HEARTBREAK | WAVES | SINCERELY, HARRIET

I have a soft corner for comics and graphic novels even though I don’t read them as much as I would love to. So when I came across these three comics up for request, I couldn’t hold back and now, January is going to be a good start for me to read more comics this year. By the way, I’ve already read one of these: Sincerely, Harriet.

CHILD OF THE MOON | THERE ARE GIRLS LIKE LIONS | LOVE LOOKS PRETTY ON YOU | LION OF THE SKY

I have a soft corner for Poetry too so I was bound to pick up a few poetry collections through Netgalley. All of these seem so good and I;m really looking forward to reading them. Also, Love Looks Pretty On You would be my first read by Lang Leav and she’s a highly acclaimed poet so I’m extra excited for that one.

RIVETEDLIT

THE DIABOLIC | THE PROGRAM | ARISTOTLE AND DANTE DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE | ZOMBIES VS UNICORNS

I love RivetedLit because they always have some amazing titles up for free read so this month, I’ve decided to pick these up from there. I feel like it’s going to be a good science-fiction and fantasy marathon. I’m super excited to read The Program because I think it’ll win my heart instantly. I’m also looking forward to Zombies Vs Unicorns because, surprisingly, I didn’t even know about the book or about this epic debate of Zombies and Unicorns.

There are these and other titles available on RivetedLit. You can read them here.

I LOVED AT THE EDGE OF THE UNIVERSE AND IT’S AVAILABLE TO READ FOR FREE ON RIVETEDLIT NOW.

REVIEW COPIES

These are books I have had on my Netgalley shelf for God knows how long. I was super excited when I got approved for them months back but somehow, I just couldn’t pick them up because I was a VERY mood reader. Though, I’m hoping to be a perfect balance of pantser and planner as a reader in 2019 so here’s a small step.

OTHER BOOKS

SHADOW & BONE || P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU || SAVE THE DATE
THE POET X || THE CRUEL PRINCE || THE HATE U GIVE

And these are some books that I’ve been meaning to read forever but couldn’t. Well, it’s never too late! So January is going to be the month I finally pick these up. I even mention The Poet X, Save the Date and The Hate U Give in this post: FIVE BOOKS I HAULED IN 2018 BUT DIDN’T READ AND NOW I’M DROWNING IN THE GUILT

  1. So many good books on your list! I absolutely loved THUG and Geekerella. I don’t have a set TBR because I’m too much of a mood reader. Looking forward to your comments on these books 🙂
